Water efficiency is the concept of being smart about how we use water and how we heat water. From an energy model perspective, being water efficient also results in the home or unit being more energy efficient, and the energy model will reflect that, if those water efficiency items are included in the energy model. This course helps you understand why water efficiency is important, what items promote water and energy savings and which items reduce effiency and how to model these. You will understand how to determine the efficiency of faucets and showers, how to determine water pipe insulation values, how to calculate pipe lengths, and how to recognize and model recirculation systems and their controls as well as drain water heat recovery systems. This course also covers the new Hot Water Distribution System Compactness Factor found in the 2021 IECC and how that is, or is not included in your energy model.
