The amount of items and standards to be considered and evaluated when determining the quality of a residential insulation job or the installation of radiant barriers is surprising. The installation, the application, and the specific materials used all have their own set of requirements. After those have been met, the installation itself must be evaluated to determine the quality of that installation. Insulation and Radiant Barrier Evaluation walks you through all these considerations and prepares you to grade insulation and radiant barrier installations according to the ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301 Standard.
Module 1 General Installation Requirements

Minimum general requirements that are applicable to all types of insulation installations are introduced in this section.

Unit 1 Minimum General Installation Requirements
Unit 2 Insulation Evaluation General Requirements Quiz
Module 2 Specific Application Requirements

Insulation installed in floors, rims, bands, attics, and vaults has some minimum requirements based on the specific application.  This section provides the details regarding those application requirements.

Unit 1 Minimum Specific Application Requirements
Unit 2 Minimum Specific Application Requirements Quiz
Module 3 Specific Material Requirements

Some installation requirements depend on the specific material being installed. This section provides installation information based on the type of insulation being installed.

Unit 1 Minimum Specific Material Requirements
Unit 2 Minimum Specific Material Requirements Quiz
Module 4 Reflective Material Installation

Reflective or Radiant material may be part of an insulation system or be used as a Radiant Barrier.  This section will explain the difference and cover the installation requirements of each type.

Unit 1 Reflective and Radiant Materials Installation
Unit 2 Reflective and Radiant Material Installation Requirements Quiz
Module 5 Installation Grading

Once all the minimum installation requirements have been met for the insulation and radiant barriers, the next step is to grade the quality of the installation itself.  This section dives into defect levels and specifies what is required to achieve specific installation grades.
