This course covers the technical details of the 2024 IECC Residential chapters for residential units and small commercial buildings. We discuss what has changed since the 2018 IECC as well as what has been incorporated in the 2024 version of the IECC as lessons learned from the 2021 IECC. You will learn about all the options for proving compliance as well as the unique features of each compliance path. Finally, you will learn which parts of these codes are required for existing structures with additions or alterations or undergoing repairs or changes for change of use or occupancy.

Objectives:

• Be able to find and search the 2024 IECC online and understand its structure and where to find changes, corrections, and addenda.
• Develop a thorough understanding of all eight options for proving compliance to the codes and the unique features of each.
• Understand the changes made to the codes since the 2018 IECC as well as changes made from the 2021 IECC and the lessons learned from that version.
• Gain knowledge around the testing and verification required as well as the standards used and differences between types of Energy Index systems.
• Understand the 2024 IECC Residential code requirements as they relate to existing buildings.
