This course takes the student through the Residential Chapters of the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.  Changes to the energy code from the previous version are covered as are the multiple paths that can be chosen to prove compliance. The new Additional Efficiency Package item in the residential portion of the code is explained and the detailed options are presented. The impact of the 2021 IECC on existing residential buildings is covered for both new changes and the portions that have not changed are included as well for clarification of this often overlooked chapter.

This course will be of interest to code jurisdictions and code officials, elected representatives deciding the future of energy codes, builders, developers and third-party verifiers for the energy codes.

Objectives Include:

• Understand the changes from the 2018 Energy Code to the 2021 Energy Code
• Learn about and understand the differences between the various compliance paths available as methods to prove compliance to the energy code
• Gain knowledge and understanding of the new requirement and options to provide the additional energy efficiency required in the residential chapters of the 2021 IECC
• Obtain a thorough review of the requirements and changes for additions, alterations, repairs and change of occupancy or use in the 2021 IECC residential chapters for existing buildings
